Dt. Hamilton moved the stethoscope over Bart’s bare chest as the young man shivered at the coldness of the metal.
“I’ll never get used to that,” Bart told him as his leg shook, only at hyperspeed due to his having just recovered his connection to the speed force thanks to his friend Wyatt. Wyatt could heal people and used his powers to heal the damage Bart had sustained while in the speed force.
“Everything looks normal,” Hamilton told him. “You can’t even tell you were impaled through the heart.”
“So, I can run again?” Bart hopefully asked.
“Yes, but–”
ZWIP!
Bart was already back from California with a hot dog, a baseball pendant, and a California Angel’s jersey.

Jase Allen sat in the front yard with his friend, Mark Adams. Mark had just recently learned that he was a time traveller from the old west, but kidnapped by a speed force vampire and held captive since he was 4 years old.
“So, do you ever think about your dad?” Jase asked.
“The parts I can remember,” Mark told him. “I know that he loved me and tried to teach me to be a good man while I was with him. He probably died of a broken heart.”
“We met him when we were in the speed force,” Jase told him.” He was a cool guy. He really hoped that you were living a good life.”
“I intend to, now that I’m free,” Mark told him. The door opened and Adam stepped out holding a drill. He was shirtless and looked to be sweating.
“How– how are you sweating?” Jase asked.
“I watch a lot of the guys doing construction,” Adam said. “They’re almost always shirtless so I thought it would make me look more professional. Then I dumped water on myself to complete the look.”
“... Okay,” Mark told him. “What work?”
“Your bedroom,” Adam said. “Since you’ll be staying with us, I wanted to make you feel more at home. Come look.”
They followed him up to the bedroom where Adam opened the door to a western-themed room.
“I– I don’t know what to– is that a mechanical bull?” Mark asked.
“I wanted it to look authentic,” Adam told him. “What do you think?”
“It’s– it’s great,” Mark said as a tumbleweed blew past.
“I wanted everything to look the way it did from where you came from,” Adam smiled.
“I don’t know where I came from,” Mark said sadly.

“Boring,” Bart said as he raced through Europe, then Africa, then South America. “The world is boring. I wish I had someone to– wait a minute, I do have friends to hang out with!”
Bart raced home and burst through Mark’s door and was hit in the face with a tumbleweed.
“Cool, you redecorated. Want to visit Jon at the Kent farm? Maybe we can talk them into letting us spend the night,” Bart said. “Get your shoes on so we can go.”
“Aw, do I have to?” Jase asked. “You know I hate wearing shoes when I’ve just settled in.”
“You can take them off when we get there,” Bart said as he looked at Mark. “Want to come along? The farm’s… sorta like the old west if you squint just right.”
“Sure,” Mark sighed. He was feeling more alone than ever even though he had a new home and speedster family.
“You coming, Adam?”
“Nah, I think I’ll redecorate the attic, doesn’t nearly go low enough to the basement,” Adam told him.

The Diamond Exchange…
Wyatt, hiding his shaggy blue hair under a ball cap, walked into the lobby and tried to remember what Cody told him as he walked up to the security desk. He wanted to make his big brother proud. He didn’t want his only family to leave him behind. Pleasing Cody was his #1 priority, no matter what he had to earn the older boy’s love & respect.
“Can I help you?” the guard asked as he saw Wyat was about to cry. “Son, are you alright?”
“My– my brother,” Wyatt said as he shed a few tears. He wasn’t the star of the sixth-grade production of ‘Y Tu Mama Tambien’ for nothing. “We got separated after we saw the Jem & the Holograms movie. I went to throw up in the alley after, and when I came back, he was gone!”
“It’s okay, son, just relax and we’ll find him. What did your brother look like?”
Meanwhile, upstairs, Cody was breaking into the security room and saw his prize at the very end of the room. The Neil Diamond sat in a glass case, surrounded by security lasers.
“One wrong move and those lasers will cut me to ribbons,” Cody said as he stepped out of his heavy boots to be lighter on his feet. “Okay, let’s do this.”
Cody backed up and took a running start, gracefully bounding through the laser grid without getting touched. He landed safely on the other side and smiled. “Still got it. I don’t need Jay to do this job.”

The Kent Farm…
Connor and Chris Kent were working shirtless while baling hay as Connor wiped the sweat from his brow.
“We should hurry up. Isn’t Kara dragging you out to a club tonight?” Connor asked.
“Yeah, but… I don’t wanna go,” Chris said as he nervously rubbed the back of his neck. “I’m scared. What if I don’t meet someone? What if no one likes me?”
Connor smacked him, hurting his hand in the process. “Ow! You listen to me, you handsome son of a bitch. You’re the guy who handed Zod his ass. You went all way across the universe to save Jon. You can put away more Baja Blast than anyone I know and not gain weight. You are going to go out with Kara and you are going to land yourself a prize!”
“Yeah, but–”
“I swear to God, I will bring Lois into this if you say another word,” Connor told him. Chris held up his hands and slowly backed away to the house. Connor turned around to see Bart standing there, causing Connor to jump in shock.
“Guess who’s back?” Bart asked as Connor hugged him tightly. Then he saw Jase and Mark.
“I need to tell you about the Wonder Twins over there,” Connor pointed to Jon and Jordan, who were also shirtless while doing their chores along with Jimmy.

Lois and Clark were fixing a picnic basket dinner for their date.
“Think we can trust the boys to be alone?” Lois asked.
“They’ve proven themselves responsible, plus we won’t be too hard to contact,” Clark told her. “I think we need this night out away from things.”
“I’m calling every five minutes,” Lois said. “At least until Kara or Jimmy come home. Will Jimmy be out late?”
“He says he has a job interview he’s going to soon,” Clark told her. “Poor kid, he just wants to pull his weight. Losing his job at the Planet was rough on him.”
“He’ll pull through, he always does,” Lois told him.
“Jon!” Jase said as he ran up to Jon, seeing Jordan. “And…Jon?”

Connor took everyone into the barn and explained how Jon and Jordan had split into two separate beings.
“So, you have no memory?” Jase asked, instantly feeling sorry for his best friend. “I know how that feels. When I came out of the speed force, I forgot a lot of went on in there. It was like I lost a lot of what I picked up when I met Bart.”
“Think they’ll ever get their memories back?” Bart asked.
“It’ll probably take time, but all we can do is just try to get him… them… to remember who they were,” Connor said as he smiled at Bart. “So, if you got your powers back…”
“It’s your turn, buddy,” Bart told him. “I say we track down Tim and get the bastard who stole your powers. Up for a road trip to Gotham? Maybe Jase and Mark can hang out with these two for a bit. Maybe that’ll help jog their memories.”
“Couldn’t hurt,” Connor replied. “We can trust them alone, can’t we?”

Cody had cut a small hole in the diamond case and pulled out the small blue diamond.
“I can’t believe you’re worth all that money,” Cody said as he looked at it, then at the alarms. He could easily set off the alarms and buy himself time to escape while they questioned his brother. He’d get away free, but… he couldn’t do that to Wyatt. Was he starting to care about his little brother? “What the hell is that kid doing to me?”
Cody put the diamond in a knapsack the flipped back through the grid to make his escape, picking up his boots along the way. He couldn’t bring himself to betray his younger brother. For some reason, he cared for the little bastard.
Downstairs, Wyatt was making up a description of his lost brother when he got a text.
“You know what? That’s my brother, he’s just going to meet me at the cafe up the road. Thanks for the help!” Wyatt shouted. Before the guard could stop him, he ran out the door.
He got part of the way up the street when Cody pulled him into the alley.
“Did you get it?” Wyatt asked.
“Yep,” Cody said. “You distracting the guard gave me time to hack the cameras and play a repeated video of previous footage so no one would see me in there. Good work, kid. Once I sell this to the buyer, I’ll give you your cut.”
“I get a cut?” Wyatt asked in astonishment.
“You don’t think I’d screw my little brother out of his money, do you?” Cody asked as he put a hand on Wyatt’s shoulder. “You and me? We’re partners, and we’re gonna own this fucking town soon.”
“Partners,” Wyatt whispered as they started walking home.
“Go on, kid, say it,” Cody prodded. “You can cuss in front of me, you won’t get in trouble.”
“We’re gonna own this fucking town,” Wyatt smiled as Cody pulled him into a hug.

Chris walked out of the shower with the towel hanging down over his body as Kara knocked on the door.
“Come on, we gotta go,” Kara said. “The club opens at 6.”
“I’m not going,” Chris said. “I don’t–”
“Christopher Reeve Kent, do not make me tear this door off its hinges,” Kara said. “I’m not going to let you waste the best years of your life hiding in a bathroom.”
“I’m scared,” Chris told her. “For the first time in my life, I’m terrified.”

“Should we put shirts on?” Jordan asked Jon, who was already playing video games with Jon in the living room. “Or you can just ignore me. Whatever.”
“I guess it’s just us for tonight,” Mark said. “Want to order a pizza?”

“If something was wrong, I’d hear it,” Clark told her. “Super hearing?”
“It’s just…we haven’t left Jon home alone in a while,” Lois said. “And now we have two of them. Who knows what kind of trouble they’ll stir up?”

“Sure, I’ve been skinny dipping,” Jase told Jon as they looked out of the window, who were discussing ideas now that they were bored. “Wanna go now?”
“Maybe later tonight when no one can see us. Mom has this really weird thing about not exposing myself outside. Everyone else gets to go out and have fun,” Jon told him. “Even Jordan took off. I think I know how we can have some fun. You up for an adventure?”
“Always,” Jase said with a devilish grin.

Wyatt lay on Cody’s bed, counting the money his older brother had given him from selling the Neil Diamond.
“So, what are you going to do with your money?” Cody asked as he stared at the ceiling, taking note that Wyatt was quickly growing and needed better clothes and sneakers. He also had a hole in one of his socks. . Cody was noticing a lot of things wrong with Wyatt that he could help the boy out with, including building his self-confidence.
“I’m going to buy my mama a nice new house,” Wyatt smiled. “And a nice car.”
“You’ll need to pull a few more jobs with me to afford that,” Cody said. “You want to pull more crimes with me?”
“Isn’t that wrong?” Wyatt asked. He desperately wanted to say ‘yes’. Spending time with his big brother was more important than money. He’d do this for free if he had no other choice.
“Depends on how you look at it,” Cody told him. “Money is made from paper, right?”
“... Yeah,”
“And there are plenty of trees in the world, right?”
“I guess,”
“And with all of those trees, they can afford to make the small amounts of paper you’re holding, can’t they?”
“Yeah?”
“There you go, champ,” Cody told him. “We’ll get enough money to help your mom soon. Just don’t tell her where the money came from, okay? We don’t want her to panic.”
“Are you going to tell Jay that you miss him?” Wyatt asked. “I noticed you're awfully lonely. Don’t you want to–”
“No, because I don’t miss him,” Cody replied “I don’t… miss having someone to wake up to or… having someone hold me when I get sad, or knowing just the right thing to say to me to make feel better. I don’t miss someone knowing the way I like my coffee or the way I like my eggs, or– or the cute little sounds he makes when he sleeps. I don’t miss anything about that guy.”
“Sure you don’t,” Wyatt said as he grabbed his sneakers from under the bed.
“Where are you going?”
“Back inside,” Wyatt said as he carried his shoes to the door. “To give you time to not think about the guy you let walk away.”
“I don’t miss him!” Cody shouted as Wyatt closed the door before he realized he was shedding a tear. “Dammit, kid. Now you’ve got me upset.”

Gotham City…
Tim Drake returned to his tiny apartment after a gruelling 34-hour sweep of the city while Batman was off doing his duty with the League.
Nightwing and Batgirl were busy with their own projects, and the current Robin, Damian Wayne, was under the care of Alfred until his father returned. That left Tim to pick up the slack until help returned. Robberies, muggings, attempted murders, Tim had faced them in just a day.
He was wiped out by the time he returned home. He didn’t think he could fight off someone like the Joker if he broke in with a bomb at this point. He was dead tired and forgot to turn on the security system as he headed across the floor to where his comfy bed was. Tim started to strip off his costume. Placing it in the special glass case in the back of his closet as he tried to stay awake.
All he wanted to do was sleep. It was too hot that night so even his boxers were tossed to the floor as he collapsed onto the bed to rest for the next few days. He yawned as he rolled over and came face to face with Bart Allen as Tim’s eyes widened in horror.
“Morning, sunshine,” Bart said as he kissed Tim’s forehead. “You really should put your dirty clothes in the hamper.”
